IT"S DONE!!!

It's Done!! We stayed our first night on Oct. 29, in the loft brcause all the carpet was not done, but we were able to stay in our own rooms on Oct. 31. The kids had a slunber party that night and they were so excited to finally be in their own rooms!!

We got a 12' Christmas tree that reaches all the way to the loft. It has been fun decorating for the holidays.

The kitchen island welcomes conversation with family and friends . That way the cook and dishwaher are never left out!! Dan found our bar stools on ebay.

We love our livingroom and can't wait until we get snowed in for 3 days so we can watch movies and enjoy the fireplace.
We are still waiting on the stair and loft railing. Hopefully all of the little things will get done this week.

Jones' Bed and Breakfast

The black bear room welcomes our friends and family who come for a visit!!

Stay 1 night or 2 and get a complimentary breakfast of sausage gravy with biscuits, a Texas omlet and juice of your choice!!!

Enjoy morning coffee, Fox News and Dan's tractor collection (not pictured yet!!) in the loft. You will also have a great view of the morning sunrise and the babydoll sheep grazing in the pasture.
The master suite is equipped with a fireplace, internet satelite tv, and attatched bathroom.
This is an open invitation for you and your family to come visit us and enjoy the home of our dreams with us. After all, what good is a home without family and friends that make memories in it??

Final touches!!

This is part of the kitchen island that will house the dishwasher and sink, as well as a bar that we can eat quick meals at. The flooring is a laminate type floor that looks like rock. That was a huge mess, as they didn't install it right the first time, so they had to redo it, which was a 2 day delay.

Finally!!!! A real toilet that works!! Dan was getting real tired of having to plaunge the camper toilet---- now he has a real throne!!!

The fireplace mantel is almost finished. This is where the pellet stove and big screen tv will go.

Staining and polyurithaning the inside was just as time consuming as the outside!! The hardest part was the top of the log siding inthe loft. But it sure turned out good.

Thursday and Friday night we camped out in the loft-- which was a good thing because the water in the camper froze!!! What perfect timing!!

Abbey and Dan relax on the new carpet that was installed late Saturday night. We began moving bedroom furniture in at 9:30 in the kids rooms, finally put them to bed at 11pm, then finished our bedroom. What a long night!! We get the living room carpet on Tuesday!!!

Paint, paint and more paint!!

Dan and dad work on painting the wall above the stairway. We primed everything 1 coat , then 2 coats of paint went on. We've painted for three days, and have 2 days left. Then we'll polyurithane all the trim and doors, which will take another 2 days. We are scheduled to move in next Sunday!!!

Spare bedroom walls are cabin red . This will be the black bear room.

Martha came down to help paint and works in the master bathroom. Due to the rain after the sheetrock went up, we were delayed painting for a few days. On Thursday and Friday the electicians, heating and air guys, painters and buiding crew and bathroom flooring installers were all working on top of each other!! At one time, I counted 16 people in the house doing different things!!

We are so happy with the flooring that we picked out for the bathrooms, laundry room and kitchen. It looks like rock.

Roof goes on!!!

The roof only took 2 days to go on. You can see it for miles. The roofing company wants to send a professional photographer out to get pictures and use them on their brochure. This is the first time for this type to go on a cabin for this company. Of course, now we have to do some landscaping ASAP!!!

to do the north side. It looks incredible!! We
should be able to get 1 side a day stained, then on Saturday clearcoat the porch underside. Then, it will be time to start painting the interior!! That will be
the fun part!!

Sept. 24- bleaching the cabin

Howdy!!

Welcome to our Texas cabin!! Dan picked out our front door-- he did a great job I must say!! This has been a very busy week-- they got all the windows and doors in and will be done with the insulation and exterior log siding tomorrow. Today I sprayed 2 sides with bleach water, let it dry, then srayed it with baking soda water, then hosed it all of. Tomorrow I will do the other 2 sides, so we can begin the exterior staining on Saturday. Hopefully we can get it done in 2-3 days. The bleach just lightens the logs a little, since the sun darkened them. We also bought our pellet stove, picked out carpet and kitchen and bathroom flooring, and chose the kitchen cabinets (hickory). I will also pick out the rock for our fireplace tomorrow. Looks like we might be able to move in to the 2nd story and basement in about 3 weeks. As soon as we finish staing the exterior, I'll start picking paint colors for the bedrooms-- that will be the real fun part. Looks like it could be a very busy 3 weeks-- plus Autry has started playing football and has practice twice a week and games on Saturdays and Sundays. I am wondering why I decided to let him do that. Abbey just has ballet 1 day a week. Our adventure is almost over-- please keep hanging in there with us for another month-- then we'll invite you over for coffee, cards and conversation while watching the sun set in the big ol' Texas sky.

They are using the spray on isulation- its basically going to be a log sided igloo!!

They finished about 1/2 of it today, and will also spray under the house tomorrow. We really wont even need our pellet stove with all this insulation!!

Sept. 23-- the staining begins!!

Tim the Toolman Taylor's version of dusting!!! We are getting ready to polyurithane the interior first floor, but first we have to get all of the dust and sawdust out.

We also had to sand any marks or dirt that was on the logs.

Then we taped all of the doors and windows.

The logs came alive with color as we applied 2 coats of polyurithane. It made all the difference!!

Now aren't those beautiful walls??

Saturday, Sept. 20th

They are almost finished with the whole porch. Some of the windows have been put in too.

This is the south porch, just off of the dining room. I bet we'll be spending many evenings right here!!

All of the heating and air ducts have been installed, along with all electrical and plumbing. We are on the home stretch now. Every time we go out there, we are more amazed and just cant believe that it is ours!! God is good!!

Deck and porch

The deck is done, now its time to start the rafters and beams for the covered porches!! We can't believe how much porch space we will have. Looks like we will need to get more rocking chairs (kind of like Cracker Barrel Restaraunt) to sit in while visiting with friends and watching sunsets!!

This is the south side of cabin with living room window and dining room door overlooking another porch. Our builder and his crew (2 guys) are doing a phenominal job and have been working sooo hard every day.

This is the underside of the porch, with tongue and groove boards.
